Park Board budget focuses on maintaining services
11/01/2008
The Superintendent's Recommended 2009 Budget for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) focuses on maintaining existing services and programming during a weak economy, when daily park use is expected to increase and family vacations may be replaced with "staycations" to the parks. The public may comment on the proposed budget during a public input session at the Administration and Finance Committee Meeting of the Board on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the MPRB Headquarters, 2117 West River Road; the Committee meeting will follow the Board's regular meeting at 5 p.m. The proposed budget is available at www.minneapolisparks.org (select left links "About MPRB" then "Park Board Budget") or call 612-230-6400.
The public may also comment on the proposed MPRB budget at the City of Minneapolis' Truth in Taxation Public Hearing at 5:05 p.m., Monday, Dec. 1, at the City Council Chambers, Room 317 City Hall. The MPRB 2009 budget will be adopted at 5:05 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, at City of Minneapolis Council Chambers.
