The weather outside was delightful on December 4, when 50 people attended the 1st Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Steamworks Coffee & Tea Co. at Penn and 44th Ave. N.
Steamworks owners Jeff and Christina Gehrke Jenkins invited guests to enjoy delicious hot drinks, complimentary cheesecake and the sweet sounds of carolers. Not only could you indulge in the tasty treats, but there was a cozy fire outside to warm your hands, a local artisan was selling her wares, and there was a visit from Father Christmas who listened intently to children's wish lists. At exactly 7 p.m., the countdown began...the moment the tree was lit, bagpipes echoed Oh Come All Ye Faithful throughout the neighborhood and the evening wrapped up with guests joining together and singing Oh Christmas Tree under the glowing lights of the towering pine!
