Camden Lions’ “Every Day Hero”
02/01/2011
At the recent Lions International District 5M5 Convention, Lion Mick Brogan, owner of Papa's Restaurant and Deli in Camden, was honored as a dedicated community supporter for his volunteer contributions to the local community and as a passionate member of the Camden Lions Club. Mick has been an active Camden Lions Club member for the past three years. During that time he has become vice-president and taken on greater leadership roles.
Through his efforts the Lions put together a fundraising breakfast to provide financial support to the Vang family in their time of grief. Mick provided the use of Papa's Restaurant and Deli and pulled together the Lions to make the event successful.
With the success of the Vang event Mick spearheaded the development of the FIN Fund (Families In Need). Working with fellow Lion Bill Moore, Mick defined the need and developed a plan to raise funds for families in the Camden Community.
In addition Mick provides resources and time to the Camden Lions' Annual Spaghetti Dinner to raise funds; he's on the Camden Lions Club Nominations Committee to develop new officers; and Papa's Restaurant and Deli is a drop-off location for the Lion's Eye Glass donation program.
Mick, and Papa's Restaurant and Deli, provide support for many local nonprofits and charities, including Camden Music School Scholarship Fund, Holiday on 44th, the Northside Arts Collective through the Art Shows in Papa's Deli Gallery, and many other local events.
