Learn about the future of NRP
By: Staff 02/01/2008
The City of Minneapolis is hosting informational sessions to share details and answer questions about the recently proposed “Framework for the Future” of the Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP). The framework outlines a structure for the continuation of the NPR beyond 2009 and its connection to the broader community participation work of the City. The framework was put together by the NRP Work Group that included representation from the City Council, Mayor Rybak’s office, and the director of NRP.
As a first step toward gathering feedback from the community, several informational sessions will be held in different parts of town in the coming weeks. The sessions are opportunities for residents to become better informed about the proposal, and the schedule is as follows:
Day Date Time Location
Monday Jan. 28 6:30-8 p.m. Folwell Recreation Center
1615 Dowling Ave. N.
Tuesday Jan. 29 7-8:30 p.m. Lynnhurst Recreation Center
1345 W. Minnehaha Parkway
Monday Feb. 4 12-1:30 p.m. City Hall, room 319
350 S. Fifth St.
Everyone is invited to the information sessions, and neighborhood board/council members and staff are especially encouraged to attend. They can take the information they gather back to their neighborhood groups and organizations for their consideration and feedback.
Each session will include a brief overview of the report and focus on a question and answer period intended to offer a deeper understanding of what is being proposed. Ultimately the NRP Work Group would like to hear from as many people as possible to guide the group in building on the current program and bringing NRP into its next phase.
In 2006 City officials and staff began a broad review of the City’s community engagement activities, including the NRP. To read the framework and find more information about the process, visit www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/communications/NRPWrkGrpInfoSessions.asp.
