Keep your eyes on the road — Lowry construction resumes

Lowry Avenue (County State Aid Highway 153) construction begins again - this time from Queen Avenue to Theodore Wirth Parkway. Expect reconstruction to run from April 6-November 1. This is the final stage of the Lowry construction - Phase II happened last year between Girard and Queen; in 2007 construction was from Lyndale to Girard.

Traffic will again be detoured until November when the new roadway is ready for traffic. The new avenue will be reconstructed with on-street bicycle lanes, landscaped boulevards, intersection improvements, street furniture and pedestrian lighting. Don't let this construction deter you from visiting local businesses - they're open for you and need you during these tough times. Construction questions? Contact Chad Seaman at 952-402-9202 or Dean Michalko with Hennepin County at 612-348-6286. The City of Minneapolis information line (311) will provide updates on the construction process.
