Humboldt Greenway launches second phase of housing development

The post-World War II neighborhoods along Humboldt Avenue are living proof that a declining community can be totally transformed and brought back to life. Humboldt Greenway Development, LLC, and the Jerry Fladmark Group with Coldwell Banker Burnet launched the second phase of the Humboldt Greenway — an additional 108 new single-family homes and townhomes, complementing 100 homes of phase one that are already completed. They held an open house on June 1 to celebrate.
The Humboldt Greenway encompasses 23 acres bordered by Victory Memorial Parkway on the south and 53rd Avenue on the north. Construction of phase one housing began in 2001 and included 100 single-family homes and townhomes.
The first phase also included development of a signature parkway, a new two-acre park and regional trail, a pedestrian greenway and improvements to Shingle Creek. Humboldt Greenway is a partnership between the federal, state and Minneapolis governments, Hennepin County, neighborhood organizations and other groups.
In 2001 Humboldt Greenway was awarded the prestigious Committee on Urban Environment award for significant achievement in design and aesthetic excellence. In 2004 it received a Reggie Award for Excellence from the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC). For info visit www.humboldtgreenway.com or call 612-521-4926.
