Help promote the Northside
09/01/2009
The Northside Marketing Taskforce (NMTF), which represents 13 Northside neighborhoods and promotes economic investment and a positive perception of North Minneapolis, will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, September 19 from 1-3 p.m. at the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Building (2117 West River Road). The meeting is free and open to the public.
"We're still a very viable organization," says NMTF Chair Sue Bendickson, "And we want our community to know this." At the meeting current board members will share info on the status of the taskforce and the launch of its new website. Additionally, the taskforce is turning to the community to fill open board positions. Applicants must be a current resident, property owner, business operator or employee in North Minneapolis.
The NMTF was created through a community-based planning process in 2006 to promote the positive perception of North Minneapolis, and to stimulate economic investment and development on the Northside by educating and informing people that North Minneapolis is a great place to live, work, shop, learn and play.
Half of the seats will be up for re-election at the September 19 meeting. The NMTF has open seats for one representative of a Northside neighborhood association, one non-profit, one business and three at-large members. The open positions are one-year terms expiring at the next taskforce annual meeting. For info contact info@northminneapolis. com or 612-227-8967.
