Fixing up Victory Memorial

In case you haven't noticed, the Minneapolis Park Board has been restoring and refurbishing the Lincoln statue, WWI markers and the Victory Flagpole on the Victory Memorial Drive this summer. They are almost done, so stop by and enjoy. Photos by Randy Klauk.

Rob Jensen (in bobcat) lowers a marker into place while Chris Weaver stands by to add ground if needed. All of the markers were cleaned and sealed and any that were uneven were fixed like this one. There are a total of 568 markers on Victory Memorial Parkway.

Rob Jensen, owner of Jensen Conservation Services, went up in a ‘bucket' to take a closer look at the new ball on top of the flagpole. In addition to  cleaning and fixing the flagpole, all of the grout on the marble was chiseled out and replaced and all of the plaques were cleaned and sealed. The statue of Abraham Lincoln was also cleaned and sports a bright new look.
