Enjoy coffee and the arts

Nestled in a growing area of Camden we find a charming coffee business aptly named Camden Coffee. Owned by Phil and Judy Okongo-Gwoke, the business developed from the couple’s love of the area. Between networking with their personal clients in the space, creating a showcase for art and music, and offering a fine cup of java, Camden Coffee has become quite the destination. The entire interior has been remodeled and the new open space is a pleasant surprise from what it was originally. You immediately feel right at home in this space, with friendly service as you arrive. I have visited the coffee house several occasions, and most notably during the Holiday on 44th event in December. It would be casual to say it was busy — the place was packed! The coffee and treats were plentiful, the art was rich (bold paintings by Chris Harrison) and the music was soulful.
Camden Coffee is a new favorite destination for many, as it has become the perfect place for a business meeting during the day, a spot for your morning caffeine run, or simply a weekend hangout. On a regular basis Phil and Judy plan to have a series of cultural story telling on the fourth Saturday of the month hosted by David Zander of Story Safaris. What better way to spend your time, than to hear stories while enjoying the atmosphere of Camden Coffee?
I asked Judy what brought them to the Northside and she said, “We love what we’re doing! It’s getting to know the community, allowing artists to showcase their art. Camden is a beautiful community, it’s incredibly supportive and it keeps us going!” Well said by such an up and coming real estate agent and business owner.
Currently Camden Coffee is looking for acoustic music acts, so contact Phil or Judy at 612-521-1161. If you are interested in showing art, this could be the perfect spot. Camden Coffee is located at 1500 44th Avenue North.
