CAPTIONS: MN Community Sings at the Haybale Theatre: Amid the shimmering cottonwood leaves, smoke of an open fire, Bret Hesla, Mary Preus, and Betty Tisel led the first community sing at the Riverfest and Heritage Day event. Event goers raved about having MN Community Sings at our event stating, “We should have them at every event!” They also had a Liberian song leader lead the group in two Liberian folk songs.
Cornhusk doll making isn’t just for little kids anymore! These teens were among the first to try their hand at the skill of cornhusk doll making at this year’s Riverfest and Heritage Day event!
Jacques the Voyageur, a French fur trader, wowed folks with his tales of adventure and his river journeys.
This year’s 7th Annual Riverfest and Heritage Day event on September 17 at Mississippi Regional Park had something for everyone, young and old to celebrate our community’s heritage. Fun activities also included making cornhusk dolls rope and shingle making, cider pressing, building a log home, hayrides and lots of great entertainment.
