The Lowry Avenue construction is finally done! Come celebrate the official opening of the Lowry Corridor at the Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 10 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Most festivities are available all day on each of the corners of Lowry and Penn Avenue. The Showmobile has activities all day long. Many info tables have giveaways which can be collected in a Harvest Festival bag - and there's a chance to win a snowblower! On the southwest corner is a food drive - bring something to donate to our local food banks. The official ribbon cutting begins with the Henry High Band marching in at 11 a.m. The intersection will be blocked off for the official ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m.
On the southeast corner of Lowry and Penn the Showmoblile includes: Camden Music School, 10-10:20 a.m.; Hmong break dancers, 11:15 -11:30 a.m.; Christ English Church, Deliverance Temple Choir and Parkway United Church Choirs 11:30 -noon; Voice of Culture Drums, noon to 12:30; and the Brazilian band Brasamba plays from 1-4 p.m.
Ongoing on the southwest corner: Neighborhood and local business information tables, farmers market, local artists selling their handcrafted art, and Doc's Gym has judo demonstrations throughout the day.
Ongoing on the northwest corner: A classic car show, including a monster truck and handcrafted motorcycles.
Ongoing at the northeast corner: Kid's Zone featuring a moon walk, the "Talking Tree," kid's craft table, U.S. Post Office activities, police car, fire truck and ambulance. Information tables: Minneapolis Forestry, Tree Trust, library and Early Childhood Family Education.
And of course, all day you can get great food from various booths: Tootie's, Osito's Taquitos, Papa's Pizza, Camden Lions Club and more.
