Celebrate National Police with local events for the whole family

Minneapolis joins with cities across the nation to celebrate National Police Week from May 13-19. The Minneapolis Police Department is planning many activities and events throughout the city. The precincts and Special Operations Center will hold open houses and tours featuring demonstrations from the Bomb Squad, SWAT, Fire Department, Mounted Horse Patrol, K-9 and Motorcycle Units.
Visitors can meet with police officers, firefighters, community service officers and crime prevention specialists to learn about what goes on in the day-to-day operations of the Police Department and how to get involved with crime prevention and promoting safety in your neighborhood.

Food and refreshments will be served.
Police Week special events include a memorial service for county and city officers at noon May 15 at City Hall and a 5K run, planned in coordination with the Webber Camden Neighborhood Association, and open to everyone at 8 a.m. on May 19. Registration for the run begins at 7 a.m. at the Special Operations Center and the open house starts at 10 a.m. This SOC event will also include games, a moon bounce and an opportunity to find out more about signing up for summer sports teams with the Police Activities League.
