Camden Winterfest sizzles!
By: Amy Leuesibrink 03/01/2011

It may have been an overcast day, but the weather and the crowd of over two-hundred chili tasting connoisseurs and snowball-launching fanatics was perfect! This year's event had five chili contestants that heated things up at the Bohanon Park warming house, while ice skaters of all ages and experience strapped on skates provided by Janet Marvin and the Herb Brooks Foundation. Snow shoeing and pinecone birdfeeder making, and all the Bohanon Park preparation was provided by Jason Green and his MPRB and Creekview Park crew. Sandi McDonald's blue and red snowcones were irresistible. YouthCARE brought their youth broomball match to our event and enjoyed roasting marshmallows and hotdogs and enjoying the magic of Camden Winterfest.
The five chili contestants were competing against last years Camden Winterfest Golden Ladle winner Kim Caprini. She entered the contest again this year with a revised version of her "Color Me Chili" 2010 winning recipe. The judges sizzled while sampling Robert Elders "Pumpkin Black Bean Chili," Susan Spiller's "Susan's Awesome Chili," Brock Hanson's "Brock's Buffalo Chili," Stephani Sake's "Steph's Chili,",Kevin Moberg's "MoQev's Chili" and Kim Caprini's "Color Me Chili" 2011.

This year the Camden Winterfest Golden Ladle winning chili again was Kim Caprini's "Color Me Chili". It will be featured at 42nd Avenue Station at 42nd and Lyndale Aves N on March 19 and April 19! Be sure to stop by and taste test for yourself why this year's chili winner was chosen!
