Bright Water Montessori School seeks new space for expansion
By: Staff 04/01/2008
Bright Water Montessori School has been awarded a K-6 school charter by the Minnesota Department of Education and is in search of a new facility in North Minneapolis to accommodate its growth.
Bright Water, at 1210 37th Ave., has been successfully educating children ages 16 months through kindergarten in the Camden community for four years. Moving forward, Bright Water is accepting applications for its free public elementary Montessori program this fall for grades kindergarten to grade 2. This program will add one grade level each year up to grade 6.
The school seeks facility options to accommodate 70 students this fall, and is on track to serve over twice that many students within five years. The ideal facility will have plenty of daylight, fresh air, and enough space for 5-7 classrooms of 22 students each as well as outdoor space for Montessori learning, recreation and environmental education.
Bright Water is an urban-based Montessori program designed to inspire students to be passionate, life-long learners, respectful of the environment and all humanity and lead North Minneapolis students in closing the achievement gap. The school promotes a passion for learning, has a diverse student population and staff, and fosters respect for the environment by providing a quality Montessori elementary education to all children.
The school is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and donations are tax-deductible. The school staff hopes to collaborate with community partners in North Minneapolis on a facility to develop the potential of all. For info call 612-302-3410
