Get To NOMI Home Buyers Tours
By: Joel Breeggemann 03/01/2010
Often times referred to as North Minneapolis or the Northside, many lovingly refer to it as NOMI (NOrth MInneapolis), a collaborative campaign whose "members" are devoted to the health and well-being of its many wonderful neighborhoods. NOMI is embarking on its third year of NOMI Home Buyers Tours. The past two years have found potential new homeowners being guided on a high-touch, fact-filled tour through five to seven "For Sale" homes in all corners of NOMI. Joined by current residents, realtors and members of neighborhood organizations, guests have had the opportunity to learn about special financial incentives, challenge misconceptions about life on the Northside and form new friendships. Over the past two years NOMI has welcomed more than a dozen new households thanks to the NOMI Home Buyers Tour.
The NOMI Home Buyers Tour has taken on a new twist in 2010; demand has grown, guests have spoken and tour coordinators listened. The NOMI Home Buyers Tour on February 14 included 40 For Sale properties that guests viewed at their leisure. With prices ranging from $39,000 to $249,000, there was something for everyone. Nearly 300 people did the tour, and several homes reported seeing between 50 and sometimes over 100 guests through their Open House!
Stay tuned for information on upcoming tours -- we are aiming for a late March or early April tour. If you are a realtor and you have an interest in showcasing a property on an upcoming tour, let us know so that we may add you to our roster. Call 612-481-5635 or send inquiries to jtb1970@gmail.com.
The Get To NOMI Campaign is devoted to the economic and social renewal of the vast resources present, and possible, on the Northside. NOMI is a re-branding of the Northside; a moniker reflecting the reconceptualization of North Minneapolis as a haven for artists, young professionals, families and up-start, can-do citizens and businesses committed to progress and urban vitality. NOMI is to be the "SOHO" of Minneapolis - and it all begins with attitude, pluck, creativity, and seizing the opportunities that lie before our community.
