Rev. Kathy Itzin Parkway United Church of Christ, 3120 Washburn Ave. N., is pleased to announce the installation of a new minister, Rev. Kathy Itzin, on June 20. Itzin, who was called as the culmination of a 10-month search process, has an M.A. in Pastoral Ministry and Social Justice and a Master of Divinity. She has been involved in ministry since 1989 and has worked at St. Joan of Arc Church, where she served as the Director of Children's Faith Formation. Kathy and her partner, Carol Anderson, have five children.

Pillsbury United Communities President Tony Wagner announces his retirement effective in May 1, 2011. After leading Pillsbury United Communities for 34 years, Wagner leaves a long history of success and the creation of a solid foundation for the agency's future.  Wagner's retirement marks a bittersweet moment for the long-time Pillsbury United Communities President, his board of directors and staff. Few Twin Cities nonprofit organizations have the strength or longevity of leadership Pillsbury United Communities has counted on for 34 years. Wagner has stood at the helm of Pillsbury United Communities since 1976, overseeing four community centers, multiple affiliates and satellite locations, and nearly 200 employees in Minneapolis' inner-city neighborhoods. Under Wagner's leadership, Pillsbury United Communities serves nearly 35,000 individuals each year.  Also during that time, many innovative programs and projects were created to better serve this city's youth and families.

Tony grew up in North Minneapolis and as a youth was a client of the agency he now leads.  He is a graduate of the U of M where he received his B.A. and MSW degrees, and did post-graduate study in the U of M's Social Work doctoral program.  His education was interrupted by military service with the U. S. Army, where he served in Viet Nam as a First Lieutenant. Prior to Pillsbury United Communities, Tony was a youth worker in North Minneapolis and an assistant professor at Augsburg College. The announcement of Wagner's retirement marks the beginning of a strategic search for Pillsbury United Communities' new president. Those interested in learning about the position should contact Mike Frommel between October 1 and November 15:  612-375-8986  or mikef@keystone search.com.

Ron Hick joined the West Broadway Business Coalition on August 23 as the new Executive Director. He has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience helping nonprofit organizations define their visions and creating and implementing pragmatic strategies to make them a reality. He has also worked with community-based organizations interested in bringing about positive change for their constituencies and the areas they represent. Ron will be responsible for overseeing administration and implementation of economic development activities by providing structure and support to the organization's three primary program areas (Safety and Security, Business Support and Planning, Zoning and Development) each of which is advised by a community advisory committee.

Congratulations to Addie Atkins, daughter/Richard Atkins and Rebecca Tovar, who made the Dean's list at Lawrence University. She is a 2009 graduate of Minnehaha Academy.
